My Complain to Honda Malaysia that I sent to The Malay Mail


Today I emailed a complain to The Malay Mail 'The Paper That Cares' (and cc: a copy to HONDA Malaysia) regarding a long pending issue regarding my Honda City 1.5 VTEC.

I am fed up of the excuses given by the Service Center personnel since 2007. If you wanna buy a HONDA please read my bad experience below.



Dear The Paper That Cares

I came from a family that has been supporting HONDA cars since early 1980s. I started driving a HONDA civic in 1999, it was a great experience.

In August 2006, I bought a brand new HONDA City 1.5 VTEC from Global Amity Sdn Bhd, Serdang Raya, Selangor which I consider as a disaster to the HONDA brand name. Besides other top competitor such as VIOS which was selling very well at that time, I tend to stick to HONDA as I have great experience with the previous one.

It all started after I changed my front wheel brake pads at a mile age slightly above 45000km. As my mile age approached 55,000km (which is 10,000 km after I used the new brake pads), there are knocking sounds each time I hit the brakes. It only happens upon the first braking when I move forward and also upon the first braking when I moved backwards. After the first braking the sound disappears.

So, I complained about it when I visited Global Amity Service Center for the next scheduled maintenance. To my surprise, the service representative claimed that it is a normal thing and nothing can be done. I asked him “ Do you mean that I have to bear the problem for the next 8 years till I finish paying for the car loan?”. Unfortunately, he said “yes”. I was really pissed off as I have chosen HONDA for its quality. I may have opted for a Proton instead which is much cheaper if not for its quality.

So the following Monday, I called HONDA Malaysia Customer Service Center (1800-88-2020) and described my problem in detail. The person in charged told me that there is no such thing as “can’t be done” as claimed by the service center representative and asked me to get back to the HONDA service center.

So, on the next visit to the service center, I highlighted to them that I have called HONDA Malaysia and they told me that ‘there is no such thing as can’t be done!’. After that service maintenance session, the sound disappears. I can now understand that it is not about “it can’t be done but it is about whether you want to do it or not” (as it has to be done FOC).

Later, I found out from one of the mechanics at Global Amity Service Center that the problem is due to the brake pads that are a little smaller that its casing (brake calipers) which creates a free play area. What the service center did was they tapped (welded) at the sides of the brake pads to enhance its size so that it will fit nicely into the brake calipers. So, the problem was solved for the time being.
 
As I expected, the same problem reoccurs when I changed the front brake pads again as it approached 100,000km. About a month after changing it, the same problem occurs. So, I complained again to Global Amity Service Center. And this time I was told by the mechanic that it also happens in HONDA Accord and he sounded as if I have to accept it since HONDA Accord is much more expensive than my HONDA City. He also told me that one previous customer had his brake pads tapped (welded) and end up with his brakes jammed in Bandar Baru Bangi. Since my car is no longer under warranty he advised me not to do so. I wonder why should I buy a HONDA if it comes with faulty parts?.

So, I called HONDA Malaysia Customer Service Center again. This time I was told that the Global Amity’s Service Center Manager is currently having a meeting at HONDA Malaysia and he will get him to call me back regarding this issue after the meeting, but it never happens.

Then, on the next visit to the service center I again highlighted the same issue. This time I was told to change the brake caliper as it does not fit correctly with the brake pads. This is the first time since I started driving a car 18 years ago, I was told of such a problem. To me it is ridiculous! If it is true that by changing the brake calipers will solved the problem, then why don’t they propose it when I first complained about it?, which was when my car was still under warranty 3 years ago. I am not willing to pay for the brake caliper as I first highlighted the problem while my car was still under warranty. I strongly believe that it is the brake pads that are faulty in size and not the brake caliper. So I have not changed it yet.

I would like to seek for a detail and rational explanation from HONDA Malaysia on the solution to the above problem. I am writing to ‘The Paper That Cares’ as I am fed up with the excuses given by the HONDA representatives. Furthermore, I have also experience some unwelcomed sound from the belting in the engine. I have also complained about it for 3 times and the best they can do is to re-adjust it and also used the silicone spray which only makes it silence for only a week.

If any of my friends ask for an opinion before they purchase a HONDA, I will surely share this unwelcome experience with them. When I bought my HONDA, I was willing to pay extra for a HONDA for its well known quality but now I think I should consider other car makers too as HONDA is not up to the quality it used to be.

Sorry to hear that. I'm also having bad experiences with Honda Malaysia service which they didn't take any action / feedback on my complaints via call and letter. The complaints were sent via letter and phone to their Customer Service and Honda new COO. Buying a Honda car was actually my BIG mistake. So, I'm going to make a complaint to Tribunal Pengguna Malaysia very soon to claim my right.

Anyway, how u sent the complaint to Malay Mail. I plan to do the same so that our fellow friends will not become Honda's new victim

aku lagi best. aku beli kereta honda city tahun 2008.. bila aku beli n aku bawa jer ada crack pada dashboard kat radio pada masa nie masih dalam warranty.. tapi bile g honda kat bandar klang die cakap benda nie tak boleh tukar..walaupun masa tu aku baru pakai berapa bulan.. itu ok la.. nak buat mcm mana.. tapi yg terbaru nie aku g service kat honda masa hujung bulan 8 sebb nak raya.. benda yang paling aku sakit hati masa pekerja dia orang tukat aku punya oil filter pekerja die orang dah pecahkan aku punya cover set tepi kat gear.. die janji dengan aku nak ganti sampai sekarang tak ada apa2 respon pun.. bila aku call cakap barang tak sampai lagi la.. nak kene tunggu stok dari jepun la.. macam pukimak betul die orang.. dah la buat barang aku pecah pastu sampai sekarang tak ganti2.. boleh tak kes nie aku bawak g tribunal pengguna..

Agreed. HONDA service centre stupid especially one dekat Glenmarie tu. Previous management of HONDA service centre Glenmarie lagi bagus dari HZN. Bila aku mengamuk pun, no body cares. Taubat, lepas ni memang aku takkan beli Honda dah. Toyota much more better.

bot c r v June2007.battery goes flat.all complaints not heard.said car under used..changed battery several times.still no ans.brake made boom sound.said nothing wrong.when warranty over they found cause and make me pay.now I know ans.the dealers are holding warranty and not Honda.so they try all tricks to avoid loss.also told dealer must pay cash for parts ordered fr klang.this will continue as long as dealers have to psychology costs. re leaking battery .cause was leaking fr central locking system
fault found not by Honda but a small car assessory shop.I suffered fiver years and did not use my car.shame shame on Honda.Honda Japan refused to help.said not for them.so never beer Nuys Honda fr dealers until warranty issue settled.k s Nair

Saya beli Honda Insight setahun yg lepas. Masih dalam waranty. Tayar depan saya kembong di bahagian tepi. Bila saya bawa ke service centre dia kata kereta langgar lubang besar. Sebelum ini saya guna proton, toyota tak pernah berlaku perkara ini. Ini dah 3 kali tayar saya kembong. Bila langgar lubang bunyi yang kuat di bahagian dalam bonet. Honda Malaysia pun salahkan saya. Pegawai Honda pulak kata tayar continental memang macam itu. Jadi cucustomer yang jadi mangsa. Masa nak beli bukan main cantik. Saya nasihatkan JANGAN BELI KERETA HONDA. Belanja mahal tapi service teruk.

Do you have an update to your issue?

I was recently con by Honda Salesman. When called, they said they have stock and will reserve for me. With such assurance, I quickly sell my car.
2 days later, they told me 'no stock lar. have to wait 4 months'!

It is not even an quality issue yet, it is the SALES!

Hi,
I just bought Honda CR-V 2.0L (closer to 2 months), overall it is quite impress in term of the body size and driving. However, as everyone mention here, it is true under power for 2.0L.

Now, something was really make me disappointed is their Authorize Service Center where I went service for my first 1000km @ Ipoh Jalan Kangsar Honda brand. Before I sent in my car for servicing, everything looks good condition. But, after 2 hours serviced while I get ready to collect my car, I spotted the Key or rather steering cover is open (gap). When I ask the Service adviser, he told me that I have to go back to my original purchase branch to fix this (Klang Lama). Furthermore, there is a scroll near front Tyre bumper drop off. They don't even bother to offer fixing. Sad!

In such an incident, I'm not sure how confident level with Honda standard. Is there any chance we can draft an email and send directly to Arigato (Honda Director/ COE Ueno-san ). I believe, myself is not the person who really keen to voice out here. Additionally, the CRV is cost RM148,000/-, money is the value for us to come out.

So Bro', I appreciate if someone of you can share your experience on this area.

8/04/2014 kereta accord latest model aku ambik kat HZN Cars Sdn Bhd - Glenmarie,Dari 14-17 April 2014 aku just complain alignment tire lari ker kiri even just bawak 60KMH..Alasan hari pertama service adviser dia bagi tahu steering diorang kena adjust sebab lari sikit, Alasan hari kedua memang standard kereta baru dan alasan hari ketiga punca sebab jalan tak rata sebab tu la lari ke kiri...memang tak profesional langsung la diorang nie semua...spend dekat 150k tapi jawapan yang tak masuk akal dia bagi kat aku....Esok hari ke-4 aku nak datang lagi untuk hantar, nak tengok alasan bodoh ape lagi nak bagi...

so much so more to comlaint for bad services about Honda Dealers, Cervice Centre etc.. Found not all a little normal experiences when using honda, then services, recalls, repairs, ask questions, order parts, etc.... got mostly not gooooooooodd!! waduhhhh..

my bad experience with HZN :
1-salesman forgot plat number should start with 'W', he took 'B'
2-salesman forgot to change insurance which I want is Etiqa
3-car delivered to me already have mileage of 11km
4-a lot of scratch external and internal
5-a lot of bubbles in tint film which I already pay RM 8++

Dont buy car or service in HZN!!

Honda service center puchong service is soo bad ..once my car has done with d service no calls frm the staff or sms frm the service center to collect,where i ve to call to find out..since i bought d HRV I M FACING WINDOW PROBLEM (CAN FEEL D AIR BLOWING IN) edy complaint many2 times..no differences..still d same..damn annoyed
